December 24, 1924August 24, 2020

Gladys Jane Curry born was on December 24, 1924, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to the late Ollie Allen and the late Sumpter Motley. She received her formal education in the Harrisburg School District. Ms. Gladys, as she was so affectionately known, was joined in holy matrimony to the late Robert James Curry. During her working career she was employed by the Harrisburg School District. She joined the Bible Fellowship Christian Church on September 21, 1977, under the leadership of Pastor David Green. While service faithfully, she was appointed a Church Mother. Mother Curry immersed herself in the Lord’s work serving as a Sunday School Teacher, corresponding with prisoners, feeding the hungry, serving in the clothing ministry as well as housing many in-need persons over the years. Mother Curry was a willing worker for the Lord!!! In 1989 she was awarded a Volunteer Award from President George H.W. Bush, Sr. for Community Service and in 2005 received a commendation from Mayor of the City of Harrisburg Stephen R. Reed for Community Service. Mother Curry was the matriarch of the Curry family in which she loved each and every one of her 11 children and their families with all her heart!! To her family she was the glue that held them together. She not only loved her family dearly, she had an un-waivable love for Jesus, her Church family and all she encountered. Mother Curry’s favorite scripture is John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” On Monday, August 24, 2020, at home, Mother Gladys Curry transitioned from labor to reward peacefully, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her son Richard Curry and her daughter Mary Curry. She leaves to celebrate her life her children Merle Gene and daughter in-law Nancy Julius and daughter in-law Melanie Ronald and daughter in-law Yvette Marvin, Leonard, Darren, Wayne and Delores; 40 grandchildren; numerous great-grand, and great great-grandchildren; a daughter in Christ Cynthia Marshall; and a host of relatives and friends.
